Homeowner Education and Resources

TrueNorth’s Housing Resource Center provides education and resources to help assess housing needs, discover potential solutions and provide the tools needed to get homebuyers and homeowners through their housing challenges.

The offered services are listed below.

Emergency Home Repairs

If you are a low income homeowner living in Newaygo County and are in need of a home repair we may be able to assist in funding your project!

We assist with:

  • Roof
  • Well
  • Septic
  • Furnace
  • Electrical (only certain projects)
  • Health and safety related repairs

Housing Counseling and Coaching

MSHDA and HUD-Certified Counseling Agency providing services to homeowners and future homeowners in Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana Counties. 

We offer one-on-one individual counseling and coaching sessions, virtually, via phone, or in-person, on the following subjects:

  • Mortgage Delinquency and Default
    • Identify cause of default and affordability
  • Rental and Homelessness
    • Access to rental resources
  • Pre-Purchase
    • Prepare for mortgage readiness
  • Financial Literacy
    • Master money management
  • Post-Purchase Financial Management
    • Rights and responsibilities of homeowners
  • Disaster Relief
    • Develop an emergency response plan

During your sessions you will meet with a Certified Counselor to help address your needs and create an action plan to help move forward.

Housing Education Workshops

  • Financial Literacy
  • Post-Purchase Financial Management
  • Disaster Relief
  • Homebuyer Education
  • Fair Housing
  • Predatory Lending

After successful completion of a workshop you will receive a certificate.

All workshop curriculum is HUD certified and provided to you free of charge. Pre-registration is required.
