Current Opportunities
Hunger Prevention Logistics and Transportation Coordinator
Reporting to the Hunger Prevention and Children’s Services Director, this multi-function position will:
Assist in coordinating TrueNorth Hunger Prevention programs and volunteers to ensure successful service delivery.
Coordinate and manage food donations and Food Rescue operations, including transporting and picking up food (including deliveries to school-based children’s programs), food donor recruitment and marketing, weighing and logging donations, and maintaining food inventory, storage, and stocking; assist in supervising the food center and its volunteers.
Help manage and coordinate storage space, including warehouse, coolers, and freezers, to maintain proper food safety, cleanliness, organization, and efficient use of facility storage areas.
Self-Sufficiency Advisor (Digital)
The Self-Sufficiency Advisor will support the emPower Division by providing high quality, focused, case management services to eligible participants to assist them in becoming self-sufficient. This position will assist participants with identifying barriers and challenges that affect their ability to contribute to their energy costs and create case management goals that address the ability to reduce participant energy burden, contribute to energy costs, connect to resources not offered by TrueNorth and other mutually agreed upon participants-centered goal(s). Services will be provided in various geographic areas in Michigan with the use of technology to digitally connect with participants.
Call Center Specialist
The emPower Division Call Center Specialist, under the direction of the emPower Process Manager, communicates program information to participants through the emPower Call Center. Primary duties include answering phone calls, efficient and accurate problem solving of participant needs, and empathetic customer services. The Call Center Specialist is responsible for knowledge and understanding of program guidelines and policies, professional and clear communication, and accurate and precise data collection and entry.
Self-Sufficiency Partnership Advisor (Digital)
The Self-Sufficiency Partnership Advisor will support the emPower Division by providing high quality, focused services to eligible participants referred from Corewell Health to assist them in becoming self-sufficient. This position will assist participants with identifying barriers and challenges that affect their ability to contribute to their energy costs and establish plan goals that address the ability to reduce participant energy burden, contribute to energy security, connect to resources not offered by TrueNorth and other mutually agreed upon participants-centered goal(s). Services will be provided in various geographic areas in Michigan with the use of technology to digitally connect with participants.
Sustainability Support Coach (Digital)
The Sustainability Support Coach provides low-intensity, long-term coaching services for participants who have successfully completed Digital or In-home Self-Sufficiency services but continue to experience periodic barriers to independently navigating energy assistance, public benefits, technology, and community resources. The Coach delivers brief, participant-centered assistance designed to teach, reinforce, and maintain self-sufficiency and energy security skills rather than resuming intensive energy security services. Operating under the core principle of “teach, don’t take over,” the primary goal of this position is to preserve participant independence, strengthen self-navigational capabilities, and reduce the frequency and intensity of support over time while preventing unnecessary re-entry into higher-tier intensive services. Services will be provided across all geographic areas in Michigan with the use of technology to digitally connect with participants.
emPower Process Manager
The emPower Process Manager, under the general direction of the emPower Process Director, supervises emPower processing staff. Primary duties include staff and program process oversight using a quality management approach. Additional duties include oversight of the implementation of utility Affordable Payment Plan (APP), Home Energy Security Allowance (HESA), direct assistance, data reporting and grant requirements.
The emPower Process Manager is responsible for program and service fidelity and managing the grant defined outcomes throughout the State of Michigan. The Process Manager routinely meets with assigned staff, monitors staff work, completes annual employee performance evaluations, recommends disciplinary actions as needed, promotes a positive work environment, and ensures staff receive necessary orientation, training, and supervision at the direction of the emPower Process Director.
