For nearly 100 years, generations of campers have built friendships, memories and traditions within our nine historic camper cabins. Built in 1926, these treasured Adirondack-style cabins have served thousands of campers and remain at the heart of the Camp Newaygo experience.
As we celebrate their centennial, it is time to preserve them for the next 100 years.
Our Cabin Preservation Project will restore the cabins’ rustic charm while addressing critical needs including safety upgrades, electrical improvements, ventilation, structural repairs and accessibility enhancements. The result will be cabins that honor their historic character, while meeting the needs of future generations.
Project Highlights
- Restore original wood walls and hardwood floors
- Upgrade electrical systems to support campers’ health and medical needs
- Add a second emergency exit to improve safety
- Install ventilation systems for greater comfort during hot summer months
- Replace aging structural supports and damaged siding
- Rebuild shutters, refresh paint and preserve historic character
- Enhance surrounding landscapes with tree preservation and planting
Our Goal
Over the next three years, we hope to restore three cabins annually, completing all nine cabins by 2029.
The cost to preserve each cabin is $75,000. We invite individuals, families and alumni groups to adopt a cabin and help ensure these rare treasures continue serving campers for generations to come. Multi-year pledges are welcome.
