Every year, TrueNorth’s Newaygo County Piano Teachers Association (NCPTA) puts on a concert celebrating the music of a particular composer as part of their Birthday Concert Series and this year is no exception. Everyone is cordially invited to “Vavoom, Verdi & Wagner!” celebrating the music of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner on Sunday, November 3.
Local musicians scheduled to perform include – Brenda Woods, and Kate Smith; the Fremont High School Orchestra; cellist, Diana Whittle and “The Whittle Trio”; vocalist, April Keith; Michele Mines and friends from the “West Michigan Flute Association”; the Community Chorus directed by Joseph Jennings, pianists, Thea Hoekman, Bernadine Johnson, Rebekah Kauffman, and a number of their students. In addition to the concert, there will be a silent auction to help the NCPTA raise funds for their yearly programming, including the First Friday Piano Showcases, which allows piano students of any level to perform on the 1912 TrueNorth Steinway in a recital setting. Light refreshments will also be served.
In a previous press release we erroneously reported that the Birthday Concert Series was free. We wish to apologize for the mistake and although past concerts have been free, this year’s event has a modest $3 per person charge to help offset costs of the show and to raise money for other NCPTA programs. The concert will begin at 3:00 PM at the TrueNoth Service Center, located at 6308 S. Warner Ave. (M-82), just south of Fremont.
