Over sixty years ago local residents came together as a community to help Newaygo County children in need at Christmas. Beginning with The Fremont Area Foundation in 1952 and transitioning to TrueNorth (then NCCS) in 1972, the Children’s Christmas Program (CCP) has been and continues to be there for children whose families are in the midst of personal and/or financial crises. While the world has changed, compassionate and generous people, just like you, continue to bring hope to the hearts of those in need, especially the children.
Applications were distributed through Newaygo County Schools in early September and are due back in to school’s offices by Monday, November 4. Applications are also available at the TrueNorth Service Center located at 6308 S. Warner Ave. (M-82) just south of Fremont or on our website right here, and will be accepted at the TrueNorth offices until Friday, December 13.
CCP also partners locally with Toys For Tots and accepts donations of new, unwrapped toys, books, games, art projects/supples, hats, gloves, and socks (any size and color). Donations may be dropped off at the TrueNorth Service Center, at 6308 S. Warner Avenue, just south of Fremont, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, or at Toys For Tots drop boxes located throughout Newaygo County beginning November 11. For a complete list of drop box locations, watch your local papers or check this website.
If you would like to help, financial and gifts-in-kind are appreciated. As a service to make it easier to give, TrueNorth has a secure online donation form which you can use to make a gift via credit card or PayPal. Go here, and you will find a link to the secure online donation form, where you can select “Children’s Christmas Program” as your gift recipient. You can also make a gift with a check made payable to “TrueNorth”, with “CCP” on the memo line, and mail to TrueNorth, PO Box 149, Fremont, MI 49412. If you have questions on making a financial donation, contact Darci David at (231) 924-0641, ext. 111, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any questions regarding the CCP application process or the program itself should be directed to Nettie Uplinger, Special Project Coordinator at TrueNorth, 924-0641, ext. 116.
