Delores Curtis knows firsthand that hungry Newaygo County kids are getting the food they need on weekends during the COVID-19 outbreak thanks to TrueNorth Weekend PowerPacks.

Done in partnership with White Cloud Public SchoolsGrant Public SchoolsHesperia Community Schools, and the Newaygo County Career-Tech Center, TrueNorth is currently providing almost 600 bags of food a week to kids in need.

“We’ve just had such an outpouring, a call for it,” says CurtisInterim Vice Principal for White Cloud Junior High School. “I dropped off some to a family, and she messaged me later and said: ‘You just don’t even know.’ And that wasn’t even a family that was normally on our list. And she was just so thankful.”

Mike VoytTrue North’s Special Projects & Volunteer Coordinator, says: “We need to make sure kids have food to eat between the meals they are getting from their school districts.”
