NEWAYGO, Michigan – Christmas is a special time at Camp Newaygo, and you’re invited to join in on the fun at five events that offer something for everyone.
“The holiday season is a wonderful time to enjoy Camp Newaygo with the whole family,” Assistant Camp Director Jalisa Danhof said. “All three of our lodges are decked out for Christmas and our calendar of events has new programs and annual favorites.
“It's so wonderful to have such great programs right here in Newaygo County. There’s no need to drive to a mall to see Santa; it's much more magical at Camp Newaygo," she added.
On December 7th, you are invited to start your holiday season by spending the morning with Mr. Kringle at Camp Newaygo’s Brunch with Santa. A festive brunch buffet prepared by Ridge Specialities’ Executive Chef includes a menu that both little ones and the whole family will enjoy. Seatings are available at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 noon in Lang Lodge. The brunch buffet is $24.95 per person ages 13 and older, $14.95 per person ages 4–12 and free for children 3 and younger. Advanced registration is required at campnewaygo.org/events/santa-brunch.
From 3 p.m.-5 p.m. December 7 is a traditional Gingerbread House Make & Take. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to help with your creations. Each gingerbread house can be made by up to two participants for $40 per house. Advanced registration is required at campnewaygo.org/events/gingerbread, and includes admission for two to Santa and S’mores.
From 4 p.m.-8 p.m. is Santa and S’mores. Meet a few of Santa’s reindeer at their stables (yes, actual reindeer who’ll “fly in” at 5 p.m.); and finish your journey visiting with Santa himself in Lang Lodge. A professional photographer will capture a perfect holiday portrait. Then, head out to the campfire to roast marshmallows and make s’mores. The cost is $7 per person or $25 for families of four, and includes everything – including your photo with Santa! No pre-registration is necessary; simply pay at the door.
On December 13 is an annual event for the ladies in Lang Lodge. Beginning at 7 p.m., get your girlfriends, sisters or cousins together for Camp Newaygo’s Christmas & Cocktails, rapidly becoming a local favorite. All-male wait staff and cater to your table as you enjoy a decadent selection of food courtesy of Ridge Specialties Catering. This year is a holiday sweater theme. So, be sure to wear your favorite unique or outrageous holiday sweater. There will also be a game exchange, where attendees bring a board game or card game to trade in. There will be a DJ, an open dance floor and cocktails will be available for purchase. The cost is $22 per person; and registration for the event closes on December 11. Your fee includes food, gratuity and entertainment. Register online at campnewaygo.org/events/christmas-cocktails. Private overnight accommodations are available; for details, call (231) 652-1184 for details.
Then you can “Get Your Sparkle On!” New Year’s Eve at Lang Lodge rings in 2020 with a fun, festive, and affordable night out. Ridge Specialties Catering will provide an incredible plated meal for you and your friends and family. A cash bar will be open all evening, and a champagne toast and balloon drop with prizes will be offered at midnight. Returning to provide live music will be The Jetts, a loose cannon party band playing your favorite jams; and followed by a DJ to help you dance the night away. The price per person is $50 if booked by December 1, and $55 if booked after that date. You can reserve a table of six for $275. Attendees may also stay overnight, with private accommodations available. Visit campnewaygo.org/events/nye/ to register.
