TrueNorth Food Programs’ partnership with Meijer has generated $4,580 in hunger relief for local families.
TrueNorth Food Programs are the beneficiary of $10 Simply Give donation cards purchased by customers at the Fremont Meijer store (4665 South Green Avenue in Fremont) during the campaign, which ended June 22. Those donations are converted into Meijer food-only gift cards.
“We consider ourselves fortunate to find such great support with the customers at the new Fremont Meijer store,” said Mark Kraus, Community Liaison and Development Director for TrueNorth Community Services. “Through their generosity, we are able to fund the TrueNorth Food Pantry and our Food Programs. We are so grateful for this contribution.”
Most of the Simply Give contribution to TrueNorth came from other Meijer fundraising efforts, including the 2019 Meijer LPGA Classic in mid-June in Grand Rapids.
The customer-driven Simply Give spring campaign, coordinated by Meijer, generated more than $2.5 million for the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based retailer’s food pantry partners across the Midwest, including Michigan.
"We are committed to helping end food insecurity in the Midwest and are thankful for the continued support from our generous customers and team members," said Cathy Cooper, Senior Director of Community Partnerships and Giving. "We are pleased that participation in the Simply Give program continues to grow because it makes a big difference in the communities we serve."
