TrueNorth Community Services’ emPower heat and energy assistance program and DTE Energy are co-hosting Customer Assistance Days on Thursday, February 21, in Muskegon Heights and Friday, February 22, in Grand Rapids.

TrueNorth’s emPower staff will be on site to help complete State Emergency Relief (SER) program applications for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS); and to get connected with Self-Sufficiency Services for emPower. For those who qualify, there will be enrollment available in affordable payment plans for DTE Energy’s Low Income Self-Sufficiency Plan (LSP) program.

The Muskegon Heights Customer Assistance Day is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at the Bishop William L. Burrel Multiplex Center, 412 East Sherman Boulevard.

The Grand Rapids Customer Assistance Day is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, February 22, at LINC Up, 1167 Madison Avenue SE.

Appointments are available from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and must be reserved by calling emPower at (231) 355- 5880.

Through MDHHS, heat and energy assistance to low-income households is available through SER and the Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP), a preventive effort that provides energy assistance to low-income households so they can reach energy self-sufficiency.
