The public is invited to join a community discussion on Thursday, January, 24, to learn more about what keeps people out of the workforce and how the community can help.
The Circles Newaygo County Big View meeting will feature an overview of the top employment barriers in the Newaygo County area and an update on key legislation from several state and federal lawmakers. The meeting will be at the Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ in Newaygo from 6 to 8 p.m. A community meal will be served at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:40 p.m.
Talent 2025, an organization working to ensure an ongoing supply of working talent for west Michigan, will share its research on local barriers to employment, including education and skills, childcare, transportation, and substance use.
State Rep. Scott VanSingel; State Sen. Jon Bumstead;Peter Dickow, from the office of U.S. Sen. Gary Peters; Mary Judnich, representing U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow; and Matt Kooiman, representing U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga ,will discuss key legislation and policies. The evening will also include opportunities for conversation with legislators.
