This year marks the 46th year that seventh through 12th graders students attending school in Newaygo County have entered their artwork into TrueNorth’s countywide adjudicated scholarship contest. 

The Art Scholarship Contest exhibit was open for public viewing April 27 and 30 and May 1 and 2, and the official Awards Presentation took place on Monday, April 30. This year’s guest adjudicator, Jason Joel Harris has more than 15 years of professional filmmaking experience, including commercial, documentary, dramatic, and music videos, and10 years of experience teaching graduate and undergraduate film studies at California Institute of the Arts.

The top fifteen artists in grades 7-12 who entered portfolios, received a $100.00 scholarship award to be used for the purchase of art supplies, attending art classes, or toward tuition for a fine arts camp or class experience. In addition there were ribbons awarded as follows: 21 Senior Honors, 30 Outstanding Recognition for High School, 20 Outstanding Recognition for Middle School, and 5 Director’s Choice. The #1 Director’s Choice has the option to sell their piece to TrueNorth for its permanent art collection which is displayed at the agency. This year’s winning students were as follows:
