More than 70 elementary, middle and junior high school students took part in Project FOCUS’ inaugural Focus on Talent showcase Thursday night.

Project FOCUS out-of-school-time program participants from Hesperia, Baldwin, Muskegon Heights, Spitler, Walkerville and White Cloud elementary schools; Hart Middle School; and White Cloud Junior/Senior High School performed at Hesperia Middle School Commons. The students sang; played music on drums, recorders, clarinets and other musical instruments; danced; recited poetry; and did skits and gymnastics before an audience of about 250 people.

The FOCUS in Project FOCUS stands for For Our Children’s Ultimate Success.

A service of TrueNorth Community Services, Project FOCUS is funded through a federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant in Hart, Muskegon Heights and Walkerville.  In Hesperia and White Cloud, Project FOCUS is made possible by a Fremont Area Community Foundation grant and program fees. In Baldwin, Project FOCUS is underwritten by Baldwin Community Schools.
