NEWAYGO COUNTY, MI – Every year, the 5/3 River Bank Run chooses a handful of non-profits as Charity Partners for the event. This year, they selected around 25 organizations and held a public vote for 53 hours in October of 2015 and the top five voter-geters became the 2016 Charity Partners. For the second year in a row, TrueNorth Community Services is one of those five, alongside the Alzheimer’s Association, C-SNIP, Make a Wish Michigan, Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan, and the official charity; Stand up to Cancer.

“We were honored and thrilled to be voted in as a Charity Partner last year, but to repeat again this year is unbelievable!” said Darci David, TrueNorth Communications and Development Senior Officer. “Being selected again shows how awesome our supporters are by voting for TrueNorth a second year,” she continued. In the months leading up to the event, which takes place on May 14, the 5/3 River Bank Run will be featuring the Charity Partners on their website and in local media outlets. They are showcasing TrueNorth throughout the month of February, and readers are encouraged to visit both the River Bank Run website and Facebook page, as well as the TrueNorth website and their Facebook page.

In addition to the public exposure an event of this magnitude brings to a Charity Partner like TrueNorth, there is also a way for the organization to raise some much-needed financial support. Whenever anyone signs up to run  or walk in any of the events at the River Bank Run, ranging from a 5K run/walk, all the way up to the signature 25K, they are asked if they would like to “run for” one of the Charity Partners.  They may then make a donation to their Charity Partner of choice and/or ask friends and family to help them reach a fundraising goal for their non-profit. TrueNorth has a whole range of tools available to help you reach your fundraising goals as well.

Run for TrueNorth, because you want to be part of the solution! Anyone interested is encouraged to sign up now. Questions or concerns should be directed to Mark Kraus at ext. 116,
