Empty Bowls 2019

Thank you to everyone in the community who supported our 20th annual Empty Bowls Soup Luncheons. We raised more than $14,000 for our Food Programs to fight food insecurity in our midst.

There were 60 gallons of soups along with bread, rolls, biscuits and cookies donated by 20 participating restaurants and caterers for Empty Bowls, which was October 3 at TrueNorth in Fremont and October 4 at the Newaygo County Commission on Aging in White Cloud. We had 27 sponsors, including lead Golden Ladle Sponsor Parvox Technology. A record-breaking 20 Stuff the Cart grocery carts of food were purchased and donated.

Our 180 volunteers included representatives from Spectrum Health, Nestlé Gerber, Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office, Fremont Police Department, White Cloud Police Department and others. The handmade ceramic bowls for patrons were created and/or decorated by Newaygo County art students and concerned individuals.

Besides ParVox Technology, our sponsors included: Silver Spoon Sponsor — West Michigan Family Dental; Bronze Bowl Sponsors — Steve and  Michelle Burt, Michael P. Campeau (DDS, PC), E&M Design Solutions, Fremont Insurance Company, Gerber Life Insurance Company, Hi-Lites Graphics, Robert Johnston and Laurie Marshall, MB Woodworks, Erica Rose and Walmart; and our many table sponsors.

The  restaurants and caterers donating food included The Blind Squirrel Tavern, The Commons of Fremont, Daniel’s Restaurant, Jimmy’s Roadhouse, Koffee Kuppe Café, Lakes 23 Restaurant & Pub, The Lumberjak Shak, The Lunch Pail, Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders, Moon Dance Café, Northern Trails Bar & Grill, Pathway Café at Newaygo County Regional Education Service Agency, The Pizza Mill, Ridge Specialties, The River Stop Café, River Stop Saloon, Sally’s Family Restaurant & Whatta Pizza, The Shack, Shamrock Pub & Grill and Spanky’s Pizza Shop & Restaurant.
