TrueNorth Community Services strives to build vibrant rural communities by promoting and supporting volunteerism. The TrueNorth Volunteer Resource Center brings people and organizations together to address community needs. Volunteers connect people to hope. It may start with a single act of kindness, but it often leads to a lifetime of enriching experiences. Whether you have a talent for knitting hats and mittens, organizing a food drive, a desire to mentor a young person, or just want to give back, TrueNorth can help you find a fulfilling volunteer opportunity.
Community needs cannot be addressed without the efforts of an active, growing, and incredibly caring volunteer base. In 2011, 912 individuals and groups volunteered 38,637 hours for various TrueNorth programs and services. Their gift of volunteer time saved our organization over $530,000 in salaries, or approximately 17 full-time staff positions. So much of our work wouldn't be possible without the dedication and commitment of volunteers at TrueNorth.
Our programs succeed because they are the collaborative work of caring citizens creating effective solutions to meet needs in their own communities. The Volunteer Resource Center believes in the value our volunteers bring to each person they assist, either directly or indirectly. Whether it is for a nonprofit agency like TrueNorth, a library, school, or health care institution; fostering volunteerism is vital to the future of our communities.
