TrueNorth Housing and Homeless Assistance programs and services strive to keep area residents in safe and affordable housing, while working towards the goal of self-sufficiency.
Below are brief descriptions of our programs and services. If you are experiencing a housing need, we encourage you to contact us today to see what programs and services are available. You can visit our Service Center in Fremont, call us at (231) 924-0641 or email info@truenorthservices.org.
We are able to help keep low-income families and seniors warm in their homes through Heat and Energy Assistance programs, including assistance with heat/utility bills, homeowner weatherization and energy conservation initiatives.
We strive to help low-income families remain in their current housing or to acquire safer, more affordable housing by providing Shelter and Housing Assistance with rent or house payments to prevent homelessness.
Through the Rural Homeless Housing Initiative, we provide emergency shelter for homeless persons for up to 90 days, along with other emergency Homeless Shelter assistance for homeless families and individuals.
When funds are available, we provide help with the cost of materials and/or labor for necessary home repairs for low-income Newaygo County homeowners.
A fire often creates a crisis situation. We provide Emergency Fire Assistance with vouchers for rent, food and/or clothing.
We strive to provide Landlord and Tenant Education and Awareness, which is essential for successful landlord and tenant relations. Improved relationships are accomplished through workshops and counseling.
Each fall, we design and implement a Homeless Awareness Campaign designed to educate our youth and adults about the issue of rural homelessness in Newaygo County.
