We are able to help keep low-income families and seniors warm in their homes through Heat and Energy Assistance programs, including assistance with heat/utility bills, and energy conservation initiatives, when funding is available.
The emPower program is possible thanks to a grant provided by the Michigan Public Service Commission. emPower provides heat and energy assistance to qualified at-risk families throughout 61 counties in Michigan. If you wonder if you live in a county we serve or are in need of an application, please visit our Publications & Forms page through the link provided on the left.
We strive to help low-income families remain in their current housing or to acquire safer, more affordable housing by providing Housing Assistance with rent payments to prevent homelessness, or secure housing for those in crisis.
TrueNorth provides Emergency Shelter to individuals and families on a limited basis, while a more permanent housing plan is developed and enacted.
A fire often creates a crisis situation. We provide Emergency Fire Assistance by way of shelter, rental assistance or food.
We strive to provide Landlord and Tenant Education and Awareness, which is essential for successful landlord and tenant relations. Improved relationships are accomplished through workshops and counseling.
Each fall, we design and implement a Hunger & Homeless Awareness Campaign designed to educate our youth and adults about the issue of rural homelessness and food scarcity in Newaygo County and other commu8nities on a limited basis.
If you would like to fill out the required Housing and Family Services department forms ahead of your visit, they are available online and can be accessed by clicking the Publications & Forms link on the left.
