TrueNorth works to ensure our children, families, and seniors have consistent, dependable access to enough food for active, healthy living through food provisions, a healthful diet, and nutrition education. We also help with medical needs, by providing prescription and medical assistance, medical equipment loan, and LifeLink.
Our on-site, self-selection Food Pantry provides a five-day supply of food for those in need of assistance that may be accessed once every 30 days.
Having the basic food staples in your home's pantry, such as oatmeal, sugar, flour and rice, can make a little go a long way. We provide these through our Food Staples program which can be accessed through our Food Pantry.
Our senior citizens and medically-at-risk residents can have the peace of mind through two available services - LifeLink and MedReady. We have offered LifeLink for over 23 years to Newaygo County elderly and other area residents who are subject to sudden, life-threatening changes in their medical condition. The program’s purpose has always been to provide an easy-to-use system that allows subscribers to summon professional, medical help in the event of an emergency. A secondary, but no less important, benefit of the program is that it allows elderly, frail, and geographically isolated individuals to live at home with a greater degree of security and independence. The LifeLink unit can also be programmed to alert the subscriber about an upcoming appointment, or that it is time to take medications. MedReady, also for Newaygo County residents, is an automated Medication Dispensing unit designed to help individuals who forget to take their medications, or take a large number of medications, with medication management. The MedReady unit, coupled with the current LifeLink equipment, is another step in giving Newaygo County residents the ability to live at home, rather than be institutionalized due to medical issues.
At our main service center in Fremont, we have a Medical Equipment Loan program for anyone in need, regardless of income. Available equipment varies but often in stock are; walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, and shower chairs for personal use. We also accept donations of medical equipment to help stock our inventory.
