One way to help the hungry in our community is to donate fresh produce – a food staple that can be elusive for those who are struggling.
The Plant a Row for Hunger campaign is in its 16th year of bringing fresh vegetables and fruits to Newaygo County households who might otherwise do without.
In 2017, nearly 6 ½ tons – 12,988 pounds – of produce were donated through the program. That included 10,762 pounds from Newaygo County and 2,226 pounds outside the county.
To take part in Plant A Row, drop off food at the TrueNorth Food Pantry, located at 6308 South Warner Avenue in Fremont, weekdays.
