TrueNorth Heating & Housing Assistance programs and services strive to keep residents in safe and affordable housing, while working towards the goal of self-sufficiency.

First, please note that not every TrueNorth program is available in each county we serve. To find out if a specific program is available in your county of residence, please visit our Resource Search page to see what services are available to you. A link to Resource Search is provided on the right. If we do not provide a service you need, please call 2-1-1 or visit www.mi211.org to locate services in your area.

Heat & Energy Assistance
Consumers Energy is offering a one-time assist for qualifying customers. TrueNorth is partnering with Consumers Energy on this assistance. Please fill out this application and send to TrueNorth (Page 1 provides delivery options).

You must be past due/shut-off status to be considered for assistance and qualify based on income. Here are the income guidelines. Please make sure to send all required documents listed on page 1 of the application. Incomplete applications will delay assistance. Due to limited funding, it is important that you return the application with all required documents as soon as possible.

The TrueNorth emPower program is no longer accepting applications for heat and energy assistance. We anticipate to have funding available again in October 2016.

We also strive to help low-income families remain in their current housing or to acquire safer, more affordable housing by providing Housing Assistance with rent payments to prevent homelessness, or secure housing for those in crisis.

TrueNorth provides Emergency Shelter to individuals and families on a limited basis, while a more permanent housing plan is developed and enacted.

A fire often creates a crisis situation. We provide Emergency Fire Assistance by way of shelter, rental assistance or food.

We strive to provide Landlord and Tenant Education and Awareness, which is essential for successful landlord and tenant relations. Improved relationships are accomplished through workshops and counseling.

Each fall, we design and implement a Hunger & Homeless Awareness Campaign designed to educate our youth and adults about the issue of rural homelessness and food scarcity in Newaygo County and other communities on a limited basis.
